CrossTown Band
"The Crosstown Band is a 'Power Trio' centered around the guitar
pyrotechnics of Floyd McColley, which are woven around a solid bottom
provided by Dean Lehne and Bob Huether. We cover a broad cross section
of music drawn from Rockabilly, Blues and Southern Rock influences...
The Lyrics and the hooks are recognizable, but there is a unique flavor
that is consistently present in all of our arrangements. We
perform a number of Floyd's original tunes at every
performance. We have chosen material that was written and
performed by the artists that have inspired us as we grew up in the
Heartland."

"I received a wakeup call in 1997. I was forty years old and
encountered some major health issues. From that episode, it was easy for
me to conclude that life is precious, finite and can be snuffed from any
of us without notice. Doing things that provide me with joy became a
priority again. With no hesitation, the kit came out of mothballs,
underwent restoration and has been in constant use from that moment
forward. I had lost touch with the local scene and was reacquainted with
the help of John O'Meara. (thanks 'Johnny O') My travels led through pick
up gigs with the Pena Brothers Band, a stint backing Harmonica
Slim and a couple of bands, Noesis and Premonition. I met Floyd
Mc Colley in that period and it was clear to me that we had to do a
project; Floyd and I. I looked back to my roots and contacted long time
partner and Bass player Dean Lehne. Dean said 'Yes' and the 'Crosstown
Band' was born."

"'If you remember the 70's, you weren't there!' Finding inspiration
to play in those days was easy as playing Smoke On The Water. I ventured
into many different influences of music including jazz, club music,
rock, southern rock, hard rock, and yes - even those two others -
country and western."
"I was fortunate enough to start out with some of the best musicians in the quad city area. Crosstown band drummer, Bob, and I played together in Jazz Lab back in high school. We felt the rhythm connection and joined up with other buds and formed the Hooker Brothers Band. Though we were very successful in the area, you just can't keep those overdeveloping hormones at that age from overriding common sense and after three or four great years, "the big split". Bob and I hung together and worked on a few other projects. Again, we were blessed to play with some of the best talent the area has to offer... I am grateful to Bob and Floyd for pulling me out of retirement to put together the Crosstown Band."
