Guns For Hire also got to experience Sturgis On The River this year, and what an experience it was. Sturgis On The River is a motorcycle rally that takes place along the river in Davenport, Iowa. Sturgis is a three day event that runs Thursday thru Saturday in June every year. This was the eleventh year. Don't be fooled by the name. You don't have to be into motorcycles to enjoy the event. There's plenty of food, vendors, and live music that takes place on four stages. All of the areas top live bands play each year. This year there were more than 60 bands for the three day event. If you missed it this year, you'll have to make it next year.
This is the perfect opportunity to see some bands that maybe you've been wanting to see, or maybe you'll see some that you'll want to see more of. As for the band playing part, Guns For Hire enjoyed it. We were the first band to play on our stage. We felt it went pretty smoothly. The guys running sound did a good job. It was a little rough at first but they ironed it out well. This was to be expected when your dealing with so many bands, and rushing to set things up. Each stage experienced minor problems, but from what I've heard most bands where pretty happy. Guns For Hire is more than willing to take part in it next year. The Quad Cities needs more events like Sturgis. - John Pepping, Rock Beat June 28th, 2005
